Bridgestone Blizzak LM005: Leading Winter Tyre Once Again Claims Top Awards In 2021 Tests
- Germany’s Auto Motor Sport named Bridgestone’s flagship winter tyre best-in-class in the first winter tyre test of the 2021 season.
- The Blizzak LM005 has since been named overall winner of Auto-Zeitung’s 10-brand winter test.

Bridgestone Blizzak LM005: Leading Winter Tyre Once Again Claims Top Awards In 2021 Tests
The Bridgestone Blizzak LM005, the manufacturer’s flagship winter tyre, has once again collected multiple test wins in the latest round of European winter tyre tests. Prestigious German publications Auto Motor Sport and Auto-Zeitung, and prominent UK magazine Auto Express, all named the Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 their test winner.
In Auto Motor Sport’s winter tyre test, the first of the season, the Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 topped the scoreboards in test size 195/55 R16 87H ahead of nine other winter tyres. Achieving the best score in the wet and with the recognition of “very safe all-rounder in winter, with the best performance on cold and wet roads”, Bridgestone’s flagship winter tyre was given an overall rating of “very good”.
Among 10 tested brands in test size 235/55R18, the Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 was also named test winner in Auto-Zeitung’s winter test. The tyre’s top ratings included best on wet and placing in the top two on dry. “Another test victory for Bridgestone's Blizzak LM005,” summarised Auto-Zeitung. “Its wet qualities are currently unbeatable, very good dry performance, good on snow.”
Winning seven of 11 performance tests, including best for snow-braking, wet-braking, wet-handling, lateral grip wet, dry-braking, dry-handling and rolling resistance – and securing a second-place finish in one of the remaining four – the Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 placed first in the Auto Express winter tyre test 2021. “With seven outright wins and runner-up spot from 11 tests, it’s obvious Bridgestone has found something special with the Blizzak LM005,” wrote the UK magazine on the tyre, which finished ahead of eight different tyre brands in test size 225/45R17. “For dark days in winter, this is the clear choice.”
Bridgestone’s flagship winter tyre, which was created with the help of research collected from 20,000 drivers across Europe on the real challenges they face on winter roads, also ranked third with a final evaluation of “very good” in Sport Auto’s winter test. This result included the tyre being named the overall best for the wet, plus best in the single tests for wet braking and lateral grip.
