CII PUNE HAS A NEW ZONAL COUNCIL FOR THE YEAR 2021-22

NEW OFFICE BEARERS OF CII PUNE ZONAL COUNCIL 2021-22

Following the Annual Meeting, the Council announced Mr Deepak Garg, Managing Director, Sany South Asia; Managing Director, Sany India and Vice President, Sany Group as the Chairman of CII Pune Zonal Council for the year 2021-22. He has taken over the Chairmanship from Mr Alakesh Roy, Managing Director, Zamil Steel Buildings India Pvt Ltd.

Mr Deepak Garg has over 25 years of experience in the infrastructure and construction equipment industry. He was engaged with Tata group companies, Tata Motors, Telcon & Tata Hitachi for 21 years and is now engaged with Sany Heavy Industry. 

At Tata Hitachi, he worked in different capacities including Chief of Supply Chain, Executive Officer in MD’s Office, Executive Assistant to The Managing Director, Regional Manager (Sales & Marketing), Head of Dealer Development & Channel Management and Zonal Manager (Sales & Service). During his tenure at Tata Hitachi, he played a significant role in transforming the Supply Chain processes and improved the efficiency, material costs, supplier relationship and sourcing capabilities contributing to significant growth in terms of turnover, best in class ROI and a debt free company. He established strong relationships between Japanese and Indian suppliers to form JVs for localization of key technologies in India. He also led the acquisition of strategic businesses overseas, for Tata Hitachi.    

As the Managing Director of SANY he is responsible for the entire business of Sany India’s Construction, Mining & Energy Equipment including, Earthmoving, Piling, Hoisting & Material Handling, Concrete, Road, Port, Opencast & Underground Mining, Wind Energy, Precast Housing, Real Estate, Petroleum and Finance & Leasing. 

He was instrumental in turning around SANY in South Asia from red to green within the first year and over the last 5 years he has led Sany India’s growth in revenue by more than 12 times. He led the three localizations for Sany India, one by building a local Leadership & Team, two by developing Localized Technologies and three by setting up Local Manufacturing. Today Sany India exports a significant percentage of its production from the factory in India. 

As the Managing Director of SANY he has numerous achievements under his belt. In a short span, he has made Sany No.1 in cranes, No. 1 in piling rig and made Sany India the fastest growing company in the CE Industry in India. He has also engineered MoUs with numerous state governments to establish Infrastructure Projects using latest cost efficient technologies. 

His contribution to the Infrastructure sector has been acknowledged with many awards and accolades. A few of them are Crane Owners Association Award for Infrastructure Leadership & the distinguished CEO award in the India China Forum.  

Mr Parag Satpute, Managing Director, Bridgestone India Pvt. Ltd has been nominated as the Vice Chairman of CII Pune Zonal Council for the year 2021-22. 

Parag assumed the role of Managing Director of Bridgestone India in November 2017. Passionate about driving positive change, he has been spearheading Bridgestone’s goal of becoming a Dan Totsu in the Indian market. Parag is a strong advocate of harnessing the power of the latest digital tech in the manufacturing sector. 

Parag has earlier worked in the mining, construction, and general engineering domains. He has successfully handled challenging global assignments in the UK, Germany, and Sweden. Prior to joining Bridgestone, Parag served as the Managing Director – Sandvik Asia Ltd.  

In his career of over 20 years, Parag has built a reputation for his ability to draw strategic insights and adaptability in dynamic situations. In 2016, Parag was awarded the prestigious ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by Manufacturing Today for his contributions to the Manufacturing Industry in India and globally. 

Under his leadership, Bridgestone India is a signatory of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) to promote diversity, gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace. 

Parag holds an MBA degree from Warwick Business School. He attended the International Management Program and the International Executive Program at Stockholm School of Economics. He also went to the International Institute of Management Development, IMD. 

Parag values open communication and welcomes ideas from everyone in the organization. With a strong emphasis on diversity in the workplace, Parag is a people’s person and his high energy is the hallmark of his leadership. Parag also is a fitness enthusiast who is passionate about long-distance running.
