Bridgestone celebrates a Master-ful European Tour display

  • -Bridgestone activates British Masters supported by Sky Sports presence in style

-Chase Your Dream Trophy winner Hannah Golding meets Charley Hull on Sky Sports

-More than 3,000 visitors enter Bridgestone Olympic Games pavilion

Thousands of visitors over four days, coupled with live television exposure on Sky Sports, have combined to make Bridgestone’s presence at the British Masters supported by Sky Sports a huge success.

The world’s largest tyre manufacturer was an official partner of the European Tour golf event at Close House in Northumberland, which was hosted by former world number one Lee Westwood and eventually won by Irishman Paul Dunne.

Over the course of the four-day event, more than 3,000 fans flocked into Bridgestone’s Olympic Games Pavilion, with a series of interactive games and challenges in place to keep them entertained. On Thursday September 28, ambassadors Daley Thompson and Charley Hull even made guest appearances, in an added bonus for onlookers.

The sponsorship represented the top level of a three-tiered golfing association in 2017, which began with the Chase Your Dream grassroots competition with England Golf for amateurs back in May, where finalists then competed for the overall trophy at the pro-am of the Bridgestone Challenge at Luton Hoo in early September.

Fourteen-year-old Hannah Golding, Mike Durkin and Neil Garbutt eventually prevailed, with the trio playing in the pro-am of the British Masters supported by Sky Sports itself with ex-Ryder Cup star Nicolas Colsaerts, who joined them for a money-can’t-buy experience.

As if that wasn’t enough, Hannah then went on to meet her idol Charley Hull on the Close House driving range on Thursday September 28, which was filmed live by Sky Sports Golf and later Sky Sports News, in a feature that was repeated every hour throughout the day.

All of this was supplemented by a comprehensive social networking calendar of activity, which reached out to more than 600,000 people across all online channels in total.

Bridgestone’s north region sales and marketing director Farrell Dolan said: “The association with the British Masters supported by Sky Sports partnership represented one of our most successful sporting activations in recent years.

“It allowed us to bring our official International Olympic Committee Partner status to life, to huge audiences over the four days. The sponsorship has given us a lot of momentum from which to build and there are already a number of ideas in the pipeline to build on our many achievements at Close House.”
