Bridgestone’s Groundswell of support for sustainable farming solutions
Bridgestone is reporting a Groundswell of support for its sustainable solutions, after an extremely successful debut showing at the highly prestigious farming festival.
The agricultural team showcased their VX-TRACTOR and VT-TRACTOR ranges at Groundswell in Hertfordshire on June 28 and 29, with their soil health benefits and sustainable outlook brought to life, along with examples of regenerative farming approaches.
Groundswell provided a forum for farmers, growers, or anyone interested in food production and the environment to learn about the theory and practical applications of regenerative farming systems. It’s is a practical show aimed at anyone who wants to understand the farmer’s core asset, the soil, making the event a perfect fit for Bridgestone.
Bridgestone’s VT Sales Manager for North Europe Stephen Lamb said: “We were delighted to be at this year’s Groundswell, not only because our ethos runs side by side with the event itself, but also in terms of our environmental aims for the good of society.
“We also shared some useful insights into our tyres’ interface at the surface of the soil and the way it rolls across soil in a lighter way. This improves soil structure and its porosity to leverage greater yields and profitability.”
Bridgestone displayed its simple - yet valuable – ‘One Inch Strip Test’ to determine which tyres apply less load to the ground under the same speed and load conditions. A demonstration of a balanced working tractor also took place to demonstrate maximum efficiency, tractive power, fuel saving, minimised soil damage and productivity.
A display of three leading manufacturers’ tyre lugs, including the VX-TRACTOR, demonstrated which had the most volume of usable lug rubber by weight. This was then shown to offer greater work, greater life and fewer tyre purchases of the total life of the tractor.
Steve added: “Sustainability is synonymous with our benefits, not least because fewer tyre purchases are needed. And with better tyre choice and awareness, farmers can reduce the impact to soil compaction and costly eradication thereafter.
“Our dedicated agricultural team spend much of our working week educating and supporting British farmers to farm better, by understanding the impact of soil compaction and ways to mitigate some of that impact.
“Wiser tyre choices and progressive working farming practices are the future in this regard, and we were thrilled to bring this message to life at Groundswell.”
